Academic Festival Overture | Akademische Festouvertüre by Johannes Brahms, Op. 80

Brahms composed the work during the summer of 1880 as a tribute to the University of Breslau, which had notified him that it would award him an honorary doctorate in philosophy.

A sparkling arrangement for 13 clarinets (clarinet in Eb, 8 clarinets in Bb, Alto clarinet, 2 Bass clarinets and 1 Contrabass clarinet) and addition timpani and percussion
